What?!'s with the title lol..I really don't know? But I am sure green tea is super beneficial to thy body!
I honestly am serious when I say I don't remember the last time my face was pimple-less (-- like this break you get in-between a war, get it?), especially those big, red and painful ones. It's so weird that if you are like me who've had pimples for half of your life, you are forced to accept them as part of your life, or part of your face. It's easier for me to talk about my skin problems now than ever before, because come on! Life goes on even if your face is full of flaws- cruel, I know. I might go more in depth* on my journey of struggle with acne growing up in future posts (be sure to check back for gross acne pics :( ) But this is a happy post okay?
*well, not tooo in depth, If I were to go wayyy in depth, I think I can prob write a book about it, an autobiography of acne or some sort, dam sad and boring.
Since my face have not had any big zits lately, I thought I would document it with pictures
(PS: I've always dread taken closeup pictures, or even just pictures, exceptions: selfies or with crappy cameras).
right side of mah face, scars, blemishes :(
left side looks a bit better, lalalala
I believe that my relaxing life style this summer break definitely helped to better my skin. I will list my 'life style changes' (which are not at all dramatic) I've made in order of importance.
1. Sleep: although I am guilty of sleeping at the whee hours in the AMs, but I am now able to to get at least 7 hours of sleep everyday, 9 hours the max. Sleeping too much is just going to tire you early in the day. (Isn't it just IMPOSSIBLE to get enough hours of sleep when you are in college? Not sleeping for at least 7 hrs a day is just absolute torture to me.)
2. Water/Green Tea: especially in this weather where my face gets extremely oily and the body (at times) sweats like crazy. The first thing I do every morning once I wake up is to drink 1 FULL glass of water, and drink as much as you can throughout the day.
3. Healthier food: The food that I eat at home contains much less sodium, oil and sugar compare to what I eat on campus (there really was no choice, having salad for every meal is just impossible for me). I simply know what I am putting into my body with the food I eat at home, so eat healthy whenever you can.
4. A set schedule of face routine: all that there was to my skincare routine when I live on campus was cleanse & moisturize, like that's literally it. No exfoliation nor masks, very bad (time is the problem T_T). But now I cleanse everyday (2x a day), exfoliate every other day and put on some kind of mask (mostly clay mask, to control my overly productive face oil) once a week.
5. Take advantages of the fruits in season: I now have the time to make juices out of fresh fruits. Recently, I've been having cherry + blueberry + unsweetened soy milk smoothie, just put all in a blender and there ya go!. TOO good to describe, you gotta try! If I could have it everyday, I totally would.
(does it not sound like I am blaming college for everything? oh yeah...I would totally agree with you)
I don't want to bet, because I know I would lose. My face is probably going to go back to its near disastrous stage once school starts.... poor me. There are just times when I try to make an effort to make things better, but then I found myself being eau-so helpless in some situations----> life.
Oh~~~one more thing, I finished this Korean drama "Rooftop Prince" in 3 days...+nights, go figure.
---think positive---,

It's that time of the year again!! OMG! What time of the year? The time to buy textbooks!! -The life of a college student- O GOD! I mean, you might be thinking it's just BUYING textbooks, why is she making such a fuss about it, right?? but no! It's going to be such a huge process for me, because it means that I have to spend a couple of hundreds when I am already broke COUGH**!! On top of that, I will also need to do lots of calculations and do lots of research to find the best deals possible, why shouldn't this be a BIG deal!! I especially hate those courses that have tons of readings and you have to buy like 10 novels for that one class! come on right? Why can't it be just like buy one freaking huge novel and be done with -.- If you are someone like me who are willing to do all kind of research to avoid spending a few hundreds less, I will give you some saving tips :)
- Find out all the books that you'll need for the up-coming semester from your school, I look up mine from my school's bookstore website.
- Write down the titles, ISBN's and prices (used ones if possible) for each book, I usually do this on Excel, but tables work just fine on Words.
- Go on comparison websites to compare textbook (new and used ones) prices. The two that I found the most helpful are cheapesttextbooks, and bookfinder.
- Definitely consider selling back textbooks that are not related to your fields of study, e.g. common requirement courses/ electives, you can also compare textbook buyback prices using the the links above.
- If even used books are out of your budget, consider renting your books.
Disadvantages of renting textbooks:
-the deadline to send back your books could be before your finals
-if lost, you got to pay it
- can't keep them to study for exams after college, like for graduate school
After all, maybe I should just try to stress-fully enjoy this moment, because it's 'technically' another online shopping experience of mine; who doesn't like online shopping? You must be kidding me! Plus, there won't be any more of these kinds of stressful moments once I am out of college, so let me learn to complain less.
Continuing on the topic of college.....College education is an investment that I can't afford to hire an investor to look over, well, let's pray to god that I, myself can make some good investment decisions. I definitely want to pay off my debt asap when I get out of college. I hope college is WORTH it. T_T but then, I am wondering why there are so many people who are working different jobs that are not related to their college degree..
left me wondering....

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, below are the pictures I took for a YOUTUBE video I uploaded recently, I would love for you to check it out and leave some feedback ღღ!
My hair just reflects light like crazy, but it ain't shiny :/. also ≠ healthy. That's okay, not everyone's blessed with healthy, bouncy, shiny hair. I mean, really, that's totally, absolutely FINE.
I think I can still see a bit of my acne scars T_T SMH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me:" MA, I am going to dye my hair before school starts." MOM:"not again! too damaging for your already damaged hair!" Me :" I am going to do it next month..."
I can't smile! OR ELSE I will lose the 'coolness' :P
That's it, chao~

Time is flying by too fast....I can't catch up.
As I wonder about on Analisa's blog yesterday, I came across one of her posts where she dedicated it to only one YouTube video with no outfit pictures. There's a -wise-man in that video who pretty much summed up the way I want to live my life. I love his attitude towards life, someone who was truly passionate about life.
When I was little, people who were older than me assumed that I was way toooo young to understand any of their 'adult businesses', maybe I really was. So they didn't allow me to view the world through their perspectives. As I grew older, the world around me seem to expand yet I can't help but realize how small this world really is. The ways human beings live don't differ much no matter where or how we live, in my opinion. We all are just trying to survive in this what seems to be a 'peaceful' world. The older I get, the more I get to know about this world, the more I know, the more confused I am. I think it was easier for me to tell between right or wrong when I was little than now - a grown up (in terms of age), but mentally? no, I am still not prepared. Yes, I am gullible, but I am learning to analyze, to stand by my own beliefs, and live the way I feel it's right, doesn't matter who tell me otherwise.
Here' the video. Please believe me when I say this-> it's well worth your time.

Let me spill out a little something about myself , I don't know where to begin..
I used to be this girl who was suppppper shy, I guess not like shy - shy, but I was not the girl who look like she was friendly nor approachable. I don't why that was but I was this 'cool' girl that one of my friends (or all, idk) would describe, but once they get to know me, they find me to be a bit cra-cra and too much, I guess most people are like that? To conclude, I am not the type of person to say the first 'hi' if someone approach me, if that make sense :).
Never did I know how much 'that change' could change me or how much that change would make me ME, the one I did not recognize before, that real me. I've always wanted to be..just me, but didn't know how and I was afraid. I guess the me before was just...not too me, so I was kinda lost, confused? dont be! so what was that change? I guess that change pretty much started after my trip back to China in '11. I can't exactly recall how it came to be, but I know it was then that I realize there's something deep inside me that I am passionate about, which I never, ever felt before. If it wasn't for this, maybe I would still be lost in that middle of the ocean ( which has long been my status)...struggling..
I've always been eau-so super self-conscious about my look..you know, insecurities. I mean, I have slowly moved on from that stage where I cared way too much of how others look at me, the way they think about me, maybe they don't notice even me at all, lol, I was just... -self conscious- that's about it. All those negative thoughts, I say, let them go. The one thing that allowed me to just be me is discovering what I love, what I am really interested in, and that is....style/ fashion. Dont get me wrong, I understand fashion is subjective and people tend to be very judgmental about it, but I don't mean the 'looks'. Anyway, I felt in love because knowing my style and knowing how I want to be presented totally changed me, because I no longer cared how people look at me so I can definitely dress to my liking, just the way I want. AND that, is also the reason that I moved out of my 'comfort zone' and started this blog and YouTube, basically just sharing with whoever. Yeah, people can judge, point out my flaws, all that physical things on the outside, but deep inside, I know I am still me.

I've been having this thought on life (yeah, like definitely not sure what sparked that thought?) ... I was trying so hard to try to put life in the simplest form that I can, then the idea of balloon came to mind...? oh really? balloon? Can you make any connection between life and balloon as of now? hmmm, no? not yet? well maybe not even after I explain my thought . oh silly.
So here's how the story goes.
I had this Creative Poetry course last semester, well, not the worst course I've picked, it was actually quite relaxing for me as I only had it once a week (that lazy side of me). Through out the course, we had to read lots of poems and I must admit that many of them made not much sense to me nor the other people in my class. The thing is, poetry is ...very perceptive to your own experiences., it's very individualized to the readers themselves (in a way that you interpret it with what you've personally experienced) , just like style? get it? A poem can be like a very condensed piece of puzzle that has soo many clues in it that even the most experienced detective might have a hard time solving. I've read some poems that made complete nonsense to me, they were just weird, out of no where, metaphors that I thought "what the heck!" That's when I concluded that poets are virtually stylists because they can put the most random ideas together and make their poems (outfits) unique, and thus making them very subjective to each reader and everyone has their own take on poems/fashion. I applause you, poets.
Now have you gotten some idea of where my 'life like a balloon' idea sorta came from? yeah, blame it on my course.
But how is life like a balloon? Let me try not to complicate my thought...
I think most of us have played with balloons before, no? When you buy a pack of balloons, they are not inflated, just laying there..like a newborn?. But then, when you start to blow air into it, it slowly yet surely gets bigger and bigger, and in no time, it gets big enough to fly in the air.. care free...until this one day, when it gets too high or gets stuck or just pops .. then it's over. BAM! there ya go, my take on LIFE.

Hey, I went out for the first time in the 90s + weather today and all I can say?? Waiting at that bus stop filled with freaking hot, humid, frizzy, sticky air for that one bus driver who seemed to take the longest break there is is not an adventurous thing to do (I felt like I fainted standing up) . I salute you driver.

oh these lovely summer nights,
ღAlaina
It's almost July, it's almost the end of summer (how optimistic?), it's almost school !! hmm... It's almost July for sure. I recently uploaded my first "styling" video on YouTube- Fourth of July Outfits + Nails :)
That 3 min. or so video seriously took me foreeeeeeeeeever to edit, I didn't know it would be so hard! ( I obviously still am a newbie when it comes to anything photo/video editing, but I sure still have the whole summer to learn what I need to..) Strangely, I am quite liking this 'new' (to me) thing , because it's fun. But nonetheless my love for anything in natural forms is still what I aim for. Sometimes when things are overdone they seem to loose their purposes, you know what I mean? hehe...
btw, I've come to a realization in the past few days despite all what I've done was relaxing at home (it's the best thing right?). so this is how it goes...
What does it really take for someone to want to do something that they would genuinely enjoy? Do you want to do it purely out of the result of happiness, money, fame or is it out of a good heart? I'd say.. a good purpose, whether or not you can get money, fame or happiness (or if money & fame = happiness to you )with that initial purpose you had in mind, someone who started with a good purpose would always end up with much, much more than someone started with a bad one && there goes the journey of a much healthier and fuller life, just saying...**sorry if that was confusing/nonsense.
So here are some 'photo-shoots' (technically selfies) I did for my last video.
Have a fun and safe 4th!

This is going to be a completely different post from my previous posts, please get ready for it ! ready? ready? really ready??!
So what is the 'difference" that I am talking(writing) about? I got my first DSLR camera and and and I took my first picture with my own DSLR OMG! Were you this excited when you got your DSLR?? I finally decided to invest in a DSLR because I really wanted something more in my pictures, my love for taking pictures grew so much in the last few years, but never really had the budget for a DSLR. When my school sent me some 500 bucks from a scholarship, I thought the timing couldn't be any better (now I better save money for books :P). I first bought a Nikon 3100 since it was a more affordable DSLR. I mean it was a great camera, I liked how it feels on my hands and it takes great pictures. The only thing I didn't like about it was video recording, I realized how much I needed a 'flip screen' now that I started a YouTube channel :)
Check me out? http://www.youtube.com/user/EauSoStyle. So at last, I exchanged it for a Rebel T3i, I haven't had enough time to test it out yet, but will let you know lata!
Also, I recently bought some makeup brushes from Amazon. I was mainly looking for some face brushes. I don't know much about 'full face' makeup so I thought I would just buy a few more affordable ones to try out. The first pack of brushes are from Ecotools, and the other one from Real Techniques. (pics taken with Nikon 3100, touched up with Fotor)
I quite liked their eye makeup brushes and these sure didn't disappoint. I got these for about $9, and for that price, I think the quality exceeded my expectations. The bristles are so soft and I would say they give a nice application. (I have yet to try the buff brush)
I love how CUTE the designs on the handles are, they are just right on the spot with the Eco-friendly theme aren't they? Simple, clean, just the way I like it :) The only con I found so far is that these handles are really quite small for my hand to yet get use to.

This is my first stippling foundation brush and after using it for a few times, I would say that it applies foundation much better than any other tools (fingers, sponges, other brushes) I've used to apply foundation before. The bristles are dense therefore it blends the foundation in quite nicely. The only recommendation I have is to apply the right (texture/type) foundation with this brush. The reason being that this brush gave me a smoother finish with my Estee Lauder Double Wear (thanks to my friend :) than say with Lioele BB Cream.
Now, what yall think of the picture quality? :).
Until next time!

WELL KINDA.
It's Memorial Day..what can I say.. the day that reminds us once again of the troops who fought and the many who are still fighting for us, I do Appreciate it.
It's also a day of SALEs--as long as I can remember, Forever 21 has always offered FREE shipping on Memorial Days. I rarely shop Forever21 (Online or in shops) because
1.things there are getting TOO expensive for their so-so qualities.
2. They don't refund cash for returns
3. FINAL SALE items are neither returnable nor refundable
But "free-shipping" always has the power to get me to pull out my card- voluntarily ...
I went on the Forever21 website and clicked on SALE(always), a bunch of items were on 'sale'. Yeah, most items were not discounted as much as I expected them to, bummers!

I finally decided (&struggled) to buy 3 items, the total shocked me a bit.. the -3 items costed me a total of about $55(I could've gotten free shipping anyway)!! I couldn't just choose 1 out of the 3 and just get free-ship. I simply was too desperate to add new pieces to my wardrobe for the start of summer 2013, aren't you?!! GOSH, I need to give it a second thought before going on the Forever21 site again T_T
All items I got were sadly..FINAL SALE, *pray that they fit well on me*

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I simply can't hold on to this HUMILIATION any longer. SORRY if this is somewhat OUT THERE.
Sh*ts people say, shi*ts people do, it's pitiful how ignorant some people really are. I've never liked having eye exams since I had my first one, those 'eye doctors' are tough man!.. on my eyes, omfg, they literally rip your eyes out if your eyes are sensitive like mine and wouldn't open up when they are supposed to during eye exams, I do NOT want premature wrinkles, what don't people understand! Just a little bit of gentleness wouldn't hurt, at all. Not only that, I hate how those solutions make my eyes feel, esp. when they had to put it in my eyes every SINGLE time. Ok, so I thought maybe it was this one bad 'doctor' that you just get once in a while, but NO, it wasn't true at all.
Today, I went to get my eye exam for contact lenses from a different clinic, a different doctor. Totally wrong, the worse was yet to come, OMG!!this 'doctor' whom I thought looked kind...(.coughing out blood** ) he literally tear the he*l out of my eyes.
I've worn contact lenses before, but only for a few times during the 1/2 year that those contacts were good for. So I basically struggled every time when I had to put them in, and I though that was the reason why I had a hard time putting them in, but no, this wasn't the reason this sh*ty 'doctor told me.NEVER was I aware of it.......
He was trying to put in contact lenses for me so that I can have my exam, and surely he struggled, because I unconsciously kept closing my eyes.. whenever a foreign object comes near., it just so happened, which means my eyes were not FULLY opened. so.. BIG revelation...he concluded that my eyes were tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo small for contacts (no exaggeration, that was how SURPRISED he was at the size of my eyes), he told that to me straight to my face, like BAM! "you got the smallest eyes I've EVER seen", (<----and no, this was not one of the reasons why I haven't had contacts for so long.)
I was like.. wow, okay, maybe I should be listed in the Guinness world records then? with the title of - the smallest Asian eyes?? haha, H3LL NO! he (Asian himself) even told me that he've never, ever seen such 'small' eyes in his 30+ years career, yeah, I wonder why your clinic is still the size of a kitchen after all those years.. I prob. went to the suckiest (made up word) clinic ever! He even said even the smallest contacts wouldn't fit in my eyes (yeah I really wonder why, please update yourself on what's going on in your industry). I wonder why you were not the one who invented colored lenses (used to achieve the appearance of larger eyes), or if he even know what they are for.. or if he even know why there are cosmetic surgeons who are making so much more than him, they are all for the sake of 'small' eyed people okay?? which are mostly Asians.. cough cough** And not like I am going to get color lenses or surgery, I pretty much just felt humiliated and hated how many times he repeatedly 'blaming' me for having 'small' eyes, when he just couldn't do his dam job right. He should've known how to deal with different patients' eyes. Cos we are ALL different despite the size, there's something called 'comfort level'.
I don't deny the FACT that I have small (not the smallest) eyes, and I do have the AVERAGE (not below avg.) size of Asian eyes, just saying..
Maybe he just couldn't open his dam eyes to see, or he might just need better READING glasses after all....唉。。能医不自医最可怕. END OF MY RANT.

FINALLY SPRING!!
woman gone mad,
Alaina
To meet people who are real, genuine and who can tell you the harsh truths (for the sole purpose of helping you to become a better person) are hard. For one thing, it takes a lot out of a person to be able to speak such truth. It takes self-confidence, self-acceptance and and the heart of true caring. I know I am not quite there yet, though I really try to do my best. To live gracefully. I still try to hold back a lot for the sake of my own comfort feeling. I hesitate to sacrifice more on my part for the better well being of others, because at the same time, I don't think I am ready for the harshness myself yet. I often pay too much unnecessary attentions to other's apparent intentions .
I am grateful to say that there are people in my life who would speak the truth no matter the situation. They genuinely care enough to tell me ugly truths than beautiful lies.
Life... yes.. once again, as long as I live. The older I get.. the more responsibilities I have.. and there are much more that people hold me responsible for.. the more pressure I put on myself.. how much longer am I able to 'pretend' that I am able to handle all this?? IDK. I guess everyone around my age deals with similar issues..
ANYWAYS.. it has been a loooooong winter, spring needs to be here already!! Please I need some brighten ups!
Why I love nature :).

As much as I want spring to just be here, I kinda don't.. I want to be able to enjoy even the seconds that go by as I breath..(if that make sense). Yes, seasons come and go, if I lived the last one too fast, there's always next year.. ummm.. no. We got to live our lives fully and slowly... life is too short already. Although I find this moment of life to be less than pleasant, I must also LIVE it (truly) and be able to thank it for leading me to the next chapter of my life.. joy or pain. There is little to no advantages of living life in shortcuts, we shall try to walk the ones 'less traveled by'.
PS: ironically, I am writing this in the midst of yet, another winter storm...
Spring Break Gone TOO Fast,
Alaina
What am I best at? You guessed it, I am the best at procrastinating!! It's very true, I've been proficient at procrastinating since years ago, so if you ever got questions about this topic, ask me, I will be more than happy to assist you on it :(.
My college 'free' times are to spend on getting my procrastinating skills to the next level. I could always be doing something other than my assignments,. Although I anticipated this weekend to be very busy, but I still managed to start my work at the very last minute. I've been spending 90% of this weekend doing things that I wanted but not needed done. Such as painting my nails...writing this blog... catching up on shows...:D. See, I told you, what a pro I am at procrastinating! Well, gotta shower~ Chao!
So my spring semester has officially started a week ago.. After attending all my 4 classes for the first time this semester, I must say.. I don't know if I am going to survive! Arg!! And all of a sudden, I begin to rethink about whether the major I picked is right for me.. WHAT?! Am I crazy? I mean it's still not too late to pick/change a major but I've always found it just too much to
'change' after going quite far.....NOW, I know that it IS okay, it's never really too late, it will all be worth it at the end when you realize that the time you've taken to pick what you really like and want rather than what you need is going to be much more satisfying in the long run. Alright?

Ya, these few days I feel like I've lost myself, it was that piece of me that I want to hold on to, that part of me that really know what I really want to do in life, which is a really small piece, but a real significant one. But a big part of me keeps telling me, NO, don't keep it, 'it' is not at all within my ability to keep it....
Idk, they say that things will eventually all into their own places right? But what happened to 'chase after your dream'?
I will keep wandering...until I find my clear path.
b-r-b,
Alaina
As you
might have figured out, I am a college student. What that means most
of the time is that I can be super broke at times, ex: right after buying my
textbooks. So I try to save as much as I can on whatever that I buy, whether it be on clothing, grocery or skincare products. I do my hw( print coupons, google for promo codes) most of the time before I shop :).
How do you save? Or do you? When it comes to buying clothes, I always try to find pieces that I find easy to put together for a number of different outfits that are affordable for what they are. I almost never buy clothes in full prices, in fact, I can't remember the last time that I bought something that was not on sale :D. But I am always willing to spend a little more on shoes and handbags, I think those are to invest in!
Below, it shows how I worn a sweater that I got from h&m for $10 on sale. (Sorry I don't have a picture of the sweater itself for now)
I am pairing the sweater with maroon-ish colored pants, a pair of black oxfords, and a looped scarf.
I am wearing the same scarf , added a long necklace, a loose cardigan,
switched to a pair of dark washed jeans and a pair of combat boots.
Sharing things affordable,
Alaina
